About me

Hey Everyone,

My name is Carley Elle Allison, and i’m 19 years old. February 4th 2013, i was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor outside my trachea, after 9 month of intense treatments I went into remission. August 25th 2014 I was diagnosed with Clear Cell Sarcoma in my lungs.

I have undergone six rounds of chemo therapy, tracheal surgery, and i have completed 32 days of high intensity radiation to cure the cancer in my trachea. I am currently going through oral chemotherapy to target the cancer in my lungs.

when i was first diagnosed I was a grade 12 student with quite the busy schedule. along with school i figured skated competitively. I have been skating since i was six years old, and ever since then i have been attached to the ice training six days a week year round. My schedule during the school year is pretty crazy, and most days it sounds a bit like this; wake up, skate, school, skate during spare, back to school, skate, homework, music lesson, bed, and start all over again. So iv’e gotten pretty used to being active almost 24/7.

Another big part of my life is music. music has been my passion ever since i was young. I started taking guitar lessons when i was 11 years old, and i’ve been singing for as long as i can remember. when I was 15 i started teaching myself how to play the piano and that really opened more opportunities for me musically.

In the summer time, i get weekends off training, so my family and i go up north to our cottage in Halliburton ON. i think its safe to say, this is my favourite place in the entire world. when i was younger i was always the “tom boy” between me and my two sisters, and i was probably more adventurous then i should have been. At 8, i was already climbing to the top of the cliffs with my 10 year old cousin Jeff to go cliff jumping, while all the other girls were jumping off the little rocks. I always liked to prove i was just as good as my boy cousins, even if i was a bit scared i pretended i was perfectly confident and jumped.

And that is how i plan to deal with this little set back in my life. Cancer does scare me, but i’m going to be brave, pretend that i’m perfectly confident, and jump.

  7. Hey Carley,

I came across your story through Facebook. Spencer Rice of Kenny vs. Spenny fame, shared your song and your story.

I don’t typically comment or repost these types of things, not because I’m cold hearted, in fact I’m not really sure why… but your story has touched me and I felt compelled to reach out. Maybe because we share the same passion and interests, maybe because this past week has been a real eye opener for me personally, but that is neither here nor there…

You are driven, beautiful, talented and passionate. A fighter. The kind of person that comes out of a situation like this unscathed, stronger, and with only great things ahead for them. I am a strong believer that passion and motivation can change anything.

Keep doing what you love, without fear. Continue to be passionate, and pursue your dreams.

  8. Hey Carley

I am doing the ride for Conquer Cancer for Princess Margaret Hospital ( 200 K bike ride from Toronto to Niagara), and will dedicate my ride to you, and for your fast recovery.

Keep us posted with your progress. Our prayers and positive energy is with you.

Be Strong and never give up. Have faith 🙂

  12. Dearest Carley,
You may not remember me, but I was your grade 2 or 3 teacher at Owen Public School, “Mrs. Gordon”. Today I was made aware of your upcoming operation, and I want to wish you, health and a speedy recovery. I certainly was not surprised to hear the comments your mom had to say about the courage and strength you have shown thoughout these past weeks. I remember so vividly you running like the wind, weaving here and there around the classroom. Your smile and laughter were contagious and what a sweet little face!.Actually your face has not really changed from 10 years ago. I never knew what a magnificant voice you have. Perhaps one day I will get a chance to hear you live in concert.
I will be thinking of you and your family tomorrow. You are in my thoughts.
    Mrs. Gordon

  13. Dearest Carley,
I am thinking about you, love you, pray for you and keeping you gently in my heart. You are a blessing to the life of many with your determination, trust and courage. I wish you to have successful treatment and very quick recovery. Love and prayers to your beloved family as well

  14. Dear Carley, Your story is an inspiration to us all. In November at Sectionals you were one of the girls and now you are in the fight of your life. We are thinking about you and are looking forward to meeting your family at the Margaret Garrison Ice Show on May 4th. Stay strong – we are wishing for a quick recovery. With all our best wishes. Marion Dyke (COS)

  15. Carley, keep fighting. I was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma in January of 2012, mine is a little different in that it was located in my small intestine and after surgery last year and drug treatments since then, has been greatly reduced in size. The doctors initially told me my prognosis was slim and months was more likely than years but 16 months later I’m still here and feeling mostly normal. Melanoma is a savage disease but stay positive and be strong. Good luck!

  16. Hey Carley,

I saw your story and think you are amazing. For someone your age to be so brave and positive is inspiring. It’s incredible how much grace you’ve handled everything with. I sent you a friend request on FB. I’d love to work on some music with you. It’s my passion too. I play guitar, trumpet, piano and synths. Thanks for being such an inspiring person. I’d love to be your friend. I think we could all use more friends like you. Sending love your way from Nashville 🙂

  17. Hi Carley, it’s been a few years now but you were my camp instructor at saddle wood. I’m so sorry to hear about the news. Your so beautiful and brave and I wish you the best of luck in the future!!

I think that it would be awesome to get to know you, after reading some of your posts. Stay strong, girl, and keep on dreaming!

By the way, I absolutely adore your short haircut! It’s so cute! 🙂

    • Well this was a great move, at least the character will get more acceptance, I love dungeon crawlers but this game have another issue, it just have 1 class, with 3 diferent skill tries, they sould leave the 3 options and insted of 1 Van Hellsing they could be brothers, 1 specialice in ranged weapons, other in Melee, and the las one in Arcane with diferent skill trees for each character, the reason of this is to ad reilyaavplity, if they want us to play the game over the other Dungeon Crawlers releassed resently they need something realy provocative.

  32. Hi Carley – you may not remember us (I think we have only met once, but Riley has babysat Jack and Scott many times, and we know your Mom and Dad) – and we have been following your blog from the very beginning of your ordeal, and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. We are all so happy that you have reached the end of your treatments and that you are healthy once again. You are a remarkable young woman, and you will achieve much in your long and healthy lifetime.
Best wishes from all of us!
Margot and David Williamson (and Jack and Scott).

  33. Dear Carley,
First of all, congratulations on your inspiring performance at Sectionals!!! I am a COS skating judge, and it just happened that your Short Program on Friday in the East rink took place while I was on my break. I watched your elegant performance through the window of the judges’ room up above. The emotion with which you skated brought smile to my face and tears to my eyes.

I was looking forward to see your Free Program on Friday, but didn’t get a chance, as I had to leave the competition to go to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, where my 27-year young cousin Andrew lost his battle with this horrible disease.

The reason I am contacting you is because my cousin also had a very rare sarcoma-type cancer. I understand that you had clear-cell sarcoma (I read it in the most recent Toronto Star article by Alex Ballingall), which is also rare. I read about your fundraising efforts for the Princess Margaret. I was wondering if you would be interested to learn about the “Mt Sinai’s Foundation for Sarcoma – The Panov Project”. Dr Razak and others are raising $1,000,000 for Mt Sinai Foundation to bring a Champions Oncology project in collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from New York, to study rare sarcoma Cancers such as yours, Andrew’s, and many others in mice, and test tumours from patients in mice to truly develop custom-made/personalized treatment. The study will be the first of its kind in Canada and will help to make Dr. Razak and his Sarcoma team at Mt Sinai world renowned. It will also bring knowledge and awareness of rare cancers, such as yours and Andrews, to the forefront in Canada and the world.

To honour Andrew’s memory, I would like to be involved somehow in this project.

If you think that this is something that might be of interest to you, or you would like more information, please feel free to contact me at flora.krasnoshtein@sympatico.ca. If you wish, you can text me at 416.670.7333.

    Thank you for considering.

    Keep smiling and keep skating!!!!!

    All the best,
