Happy New Year!

Its hard to believe its been one year since i started to feel sick. During the Holidays last year my family and I started to notice I was losing weight. It was such a great feeling this year at Christmas when I could enjoy time with my family without feeling extremely tired or nauseous. Even though I had not been diagnosed, nor had I started going through treatment at this time last year, I was definitely not feeling my best.

Since the New Year is approaching I started to reflect on the year as a whole. In the last few weeks I have had a lot of people say things like, “Carley I’m sure you are looking forward to the New Year, you have had one rough year.”  And sure in a sense I have had a tough time but over all I cannot be more thankful for the outcome.  This year as taught me more then I would have ever imagined learning at 18; and sure as my hair is still short and growing back I have days where I say I wish none of this ever happened. But in the grand scheme of things, I know how extremely fortunate I am.

As for how I’m feeling, I have been doing much better. I still have a pretty bad cough, and my neck gets sore sometimes, but overall I have nothing to complain about.

Thank you to everyone who has helped my family and I this past year. We couldn’t have gotten through the year without you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Best wishes for everyone ❤

  1. Hello Carley. I was aware of your journey from an article in the paper earlier this year. I kept it. I just found it not too long ago and decided to check in to see how your doing. I am really really glad you are doing much better. My mother spent some time at Princess Margaret with something very different, but I just want to let you know that I hope 2014 and the years to follow will be there for you in every beautiful way. The only way to live, as I have found, is one lovely moment at a time.
All my best wishes: Brian Naimer
