About me

Hey everyone!                                       577609_10150982984470980_1149987616_n

My name is Carley Elle Allison, i’m a 17 year old girl and before February 4th, my biggest problem was trying to find a prom dress.

February 4th 2013, i was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor outside my trachea. Unsure exactly what the tumor was, doctors took a biopsy for further investigation.

I am a grade 12 student with quite the busy schedule. along with school i am a competitive Figure skater in Toronto Ontario. I have been skating since i was six years old, and ever since then i have been attached to the ice training six days a week year round. My schedule during the school year is pretty crazy, and most days it sounds a bit like this; wake up, skate, school, skate during spare, back to school, skate, homework, music lesson, bed, and start all over again. So iv’e gotten pretty used to being active almost 24/7.

Another big part of my life is music. music has been my passion ever since i was young. I started taking guitar lessons when i was 11 years old, and i’ve been singing for as long as i can remember. when I was 15 i started teaching myself how to play the piano and that really opened more opportunities for me musically.

In the summer time, i get weekends off training, so my family and i go up north to our cottage in Halliburton ON. i think its safe to say, this is my favourite place in the entire world. when i was younger i was always the “tom boy” between me and my two sisters, and i was probably more adventurous then i should have been. At 8, i was already climbing to the top of the cliffs with my 10 year old cousin Jeff to go cliff jumping, while all the other girls were jumping off the little rocks. I always liked to prove i was just as good as my boy cousins, even if i was a bit scared i pretended i was perfectly confident and jumped.

And that is how i plan to deal with this little set back in my life. Cancer does scare me, but i’m going to be brave, pretend that i’m perfectly confident, and jump.

  7. Hey Carley,

I came across your story through Facebook. Spencer Rice of Kenny vs. Spenny fame, shared your song and your story.

I don’t typically comment or repost these types of things, not because I’m cold hearted, in fact I’m not really sure why… but your story has touched me and I felt compelled to reach out. Maybe because we share the same passion and interests, maybe because this past week has been a real eye opener for me personally, but that is neither here nor there…

You are driven, beautiful, talented and passionate. A fighter. The kind of person that comes out of a situation like this unscathed, stronger, and with only great things ahead for them. I am a strong believer that passion and motivation can change anything.

Keep doing what you love, without fear. Continue to be passionate, and pursue your dreams.

Be Strong and never give up. Have faith :)

  12. Dearest Carley,
You may not remember me, but I was your grade 2 or 3 teacher at Owen Public School, “Mrs. Gordon”. Today I was made aware of your upcoming operation, and I want to wish you, health and a speedy recovery. I certainly was not surprised to hear the comments your mom had to say about the courage and strength you have shown thoughout these past weeks. I remember so vividly you running like the wind, weaving here and there around the classroom. Your smile and laughter were contagious and what a sweet little face!.Actually your face has not really changed from 10 years ago. I never knew what a magnificant voice you have. Perhaps one day I will get a chance to hear you live in concert.
I will be thinking of you and your family tomorrow. You are in my thoughts.
    Fondly,
    Mrs. Gordon

  14. Dear Carley, Your story is an inspiration to us all. In November at Sectionals you were one of the girls and now you are in the fight of your life. We are thinking about you and are looking forward to meeting your family at the Margaret Garrison Ice Show on May 4th. Stay strong – we are wishing for a quick recovery. With all our best wishes. 15. Carley, keep fighting. I was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma in January of 2012, mine is a little different in that it was located in my small intestine and after surgery last year and drug treatments since then, has been greatly reduced in size. The doctors initially told me my prognosis was slim and months was more likely than years but 16 months later I’m still here and feeling mostly normal. Melanoma is a savage disease but stay positive and be strong. Good luck!

  16. Hey Carley,

I saw your story and think you are amazing. For someone your age to be so brave and positive is inspiring. It’s incredible how much grace you’ve handled everything with. I sent you a friend request on FB. I’d love to work on some music with you. It’s my passion too. I play guitar, trumpet, piano and synths. Thanks for being such an inspiring person. I’d love to be your friend. I think we could all use more friends like you. Sending love your way from Nashville :)

  17. Hi Carley, it’s been a few years now but you were my camp instructor at saddle wood. I’m so sorry to hear about the news. Your so beautiful and brave and I wish you the best of luck in the future!!

I’m going to spend today reading your blog, and I’m going to try to watch your YouTube covers when I get the chance (damn school filters!). I think that it would be awesome to get to know you, after reading some of your posts. Stay strong, girl, and keep on dreaming!

By the way, I absolutely adore your short haircut! It’s so cute! :)

    ~ Abby

  19. Dear Carley,
You are a strong, brave and beautiful young lady.
Your story is captivating and your strength through your battle is admirable!
I read your blog about skating today and your About section and thought this song would be perfect for you:

    Sincerely,

    Alexis
